Mr. Beer began his career as an assistant state attorney in Dade County, where he worked for State Attorney Janet Reno in the Organized Crime and Insurance Fraud Division. He is experienced in a broad range of sophisticated business, real estate, taxation planning and transactional matters including individual entity income tax planning, lifetime and post mortem estate planning, pension plan formation and compliance, and tax litigation.
An AV rated attorney by Martindale-Hubbell, and Florida Bar Board Certified in Taxation, Mr. Beer has represented clients before administrative agencies including the Internal Revenue Service, Florida Department of Revenue, and Department of Business and Professional Regulation. He is admitted to practice before various U.S. Courts of Appeal, the U.S. Claims Court, the U.S. Tax Court and the U.S. Supreme Court. He serves as an arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association and served nine (9) years as a Traffic Hearing Officer for the 15th Judicial Circuit, in and for Palm Beach County. He has also served as a member of the Florida Bar Board of Governors for 8 years including two terms as Budget Chair, and has been a director or officer of the Palm Beach County Bar Association from 1989 until 2005, serving as its president in 1996-1997. In 2005 Mr. Beer received the prestigious Florida Bar President's Award of Merit, which recognizes outstanding service to the Florida Bar.
He has lectured for the Florida Bar and the Palm Beach County Bar Association on business and tax matters, and has acted as advisor to various charitable and civic groups including the Legal Aid Society of Palm Beach (Treasurer, 1999 - present) and the Palm Beach County Scholastic Achievement Foundation (past president and member since 1984).
A Rutgers University graduate in economics with distinction, he earned his law degree and master's degree in taxation from the University of Miami School of Law. |
