Jay Hunston was born in Salem, Ohio and moved to Palm Beach in 1980. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Wake Forest University, and a Juris Doctor degree from the Florida State University College of Law. Prior to attending law school, Mr. Hunston earned his Series 7 and 63 licenses and worked as a financial consultant with A.G. Edwards & Sons, Inc. While attending Florida State, he served as an executive editor, an article editor and a sub-citer for the Florida State University Business Review. He was the magister and exchequer of the legal honor fraternity, Phi Delta Phi, and was involved in numerous committees of the Student Bar Association.

Mr. Hunston was a student member of the William H. Stafford Chapter of the American Inns of Court. He also worked as the Student Government Association's student defender where he helped defend students accused of honor code violations. Mr. Hunston's practice focuses on commercial litigation, including mortgage foreclosures, commercial lien law, landlord tenant law, corporate law and government land use issues, and construction litigation.

A long-time resident of Palm Beach County, Mr. Hunston has been involved in many civic and sports organizations. He is a member of the American Bar Association, Florida Bar Association, Palm Beach County Bar Association and the Craig S. Barnard Chapter of the American Inns of Court. He is also active in the local Kiwanis chapter. His interests include running, soccer and water sports.
